
The investigation into the mysterious death of Assamese singer Zubeen Garg has taken a major turn.The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Crime Investigation Department (CID), Assam Police, on Friday (October 10) reportedly arrested two of the singer’s personal security officers (PSOs)—Nandeswar Bora and Paresh Baishya—in connection with the case.As reported by ANI, SIT Chief and Special DGP (CID) Munna Prasad Gupta confirmed the arrests
Financial irregularities
According to the sources, the arrests come after investigators uncovered suspicious financial transactions exceeding Rs 1 crore linked to the PSOs’ bank accounts. The probe has already led to the arrest of several individuals, including event organizer Shyamkanu Mahanta, Zubeen’s manager Siddharth Sharma, bandmate Shekhar Jyoti Goswami, co-singer Amritprava Mahanta, and Zubeen’s cousin, suspended APS officer Sandipan Garg.Earlier this week, the Assam government suspended Sandipan Garg following his arrest by the SIT. Authorities are now examining possible financial and criminal conspiracies behind the singer’s untimely demise.

Zubeen Garg, a beloved cultural icon of Assam, passed away in Singapore on September 19, just a day before he was scheduled to perform at the Northeast India Festival. Initial reports suggested that he died during a scuba diving mishap, but new claims have since emerged.Bandmate Shekhar Jyoti Goswami recently alleged that Zubeen was poisoned. This statement has reignited demands for justice.
