Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree Verma had one of the most fairytale weddings. He came from a sports background, and she from the world of entertainment; in this day and age of social media, they posed as a perfect couple. However, the reality was different from what had been fed to the feed. Gradually, the reports of trouble in paradise started doing the rounds, followed by a much-publicised divorce. Yuzvendra Chahal maintained silence on the whole matter until his recent interview, where he finally shared how he was wrongly labeled as a ‘cheater’ after the divorce. He also confessed to battling with depression and anxiety during the same time.
Yuzvendra Chahal on being called a cheater after his divorce
“After my divorce, I was called a cheater. And I have never cheated in my life. I’m an extremely loyal person. You wouldn’t even find a loyal person like me. I deeply care about my people,” Yuzi shared with Raj Shamani as he appeared for his podcast. He shared that people jumped to conclusions without knowing the whole story. He added, “That’s what affects me, that you guys don’t even know what has happened and yet you are blaming me,” he added.Further, elaborating on what might have led to this wrongful labelling, Yuzvendra said, “Just because I’m seen with someone doesn’t mean you will write anything for views. And if you react and speak up, then 10 more people will come and troll you even more. Because they want masala all the time.”“I know my truth, and the people who are close to me know my truth, so I don’t care. Why do I justify to anybody when I haven’t done anything wrong?” he added.
Yuzvendra Chahal opened up about his mental health following the divorce
An emotional turmoil of this level leaves marks, and something similar happened with Yuzvendra Chahal. The ace cricketer confessed the divorce impacted his mental health and said, “I was in depression for four to five months. I had anxiety attacks. Only my close ones know this. I have never shared this anywhere for sympathy. I used to have suicidal thoughts because my mind had completely stopped working,” Chahal admitted.
Yuzvendra Chahal credits his close friends like RJ Mahvash and more for their support during his tough times
Yuzvendra said before the podcast that he had never spoken about his mental health issues, as it is not easy to talk about and one doesn’t really know who to turn to. However, his close friends like Pratik Pawar and RJ Mahvash stood by him as his constant support. “I didn’t want to share it with my family because I didn’t want to bother them. So, my close friends really helped me during this period. They were with me,” he mentioned.
