WBCHSE Uchha Madhyamik exams 2026: The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) has started distributing model question papers for the upcoming Uchha Madhyamik or Higher Secondary Semester 4 board examinations.According to WBCHSE president Chiranjib Bhattacharya, the model question papers cover 22 subjects and have been available since January 27, 2026. The papers are being distributed from the council’s head office and five regional centres across West Bengal, PTI reports.
Uchha Madhyamik Semester 4 exam dates
The Uchha Madhyamik Semester 4 board examinations are scheduled to be conducted from February 12 to February 27, 2026.The council is also working on uploading PDF versions of the model question papers online. This move is expected to ensure quicker and easier access for students and teachers.
Curriculum updates and new subjects introduced
The WBCHSE has also shared details about efforts to modernise the Higher Secondary curriculum. According to Bhattacharya, the syllabi for several science-related subjects, including Computer Science and Computer Application, have been updated to reflect current academic and technological developments.New subjects such as Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, and Cyber Security have also been introduced to align Higher Secondary education in West Bengal with emerging fields.
New semester-based exam pattern explained
Under the new semester-based examination system, Uchha Madhyamik question papers are designed to improve both analytical thinking and writing skills.Semesters one and three mainly include multiple-choice questions to promote reasoning skills, while semesters two and four focus on short and descriptive answers to strengthen students’ writing abilities. This change marks the end of the traditional annual examination system that had been in place since 1978.
WBCHSE Semester 3 result 2025-26
Earlier, the WBCHSE declared the Semester 3 Uchha Madhyamik results for the 2025-26 academic session on October 31 at a press conference held at the council office in Salt Lake, Kolkata.The overall pass percentage was recorded at 93.72 per cent. Around 6.45 lakh students appeared for the first-ever semester-based Higher Secondary examinations. Girls accounted for 56.03 per cent of the total candidates. The exams were conducted from September 8 to September 22 at 2,106 centres across the state.
Advisory for students appearing in Semester 4 exams
Students appearing for the Uchha Madhyamik Semester 4 examinations are advised to collect the model question papers from their schools or download them online once available. They should use these papers for final revision and exam preparation.(with PTI inputs)
