Diljit’s call to release Sardaar Ji 3 overseas
Despite facing threats from multiple Indian film bodies, Diljit went ahead with the overseas release of Sardaar Ji 3 on June 27. As one of the film’s producers, he had the authority to take that call. In contrast, Vaani’s Abir Gulaal remained in limbo, caught in the aftermath of the terror attack.
“No intent to disrespect the nation”
When asked about Diljit’s decision to release the film globally, Vaani offered a measured response. She said she assumes the film was shot before the tragic incident and that, as a producer, Diljit likely had significant investments tied up in the project.
A complex situation
The actress further weighed in on the Sardaar Ji 3 controversy, acknowledging the complexity of the situation. She pointed out that around 100 technicians were involved in the film’s making and that the project was likely shot before the terror attack. Emphasising that Diljit is a globally respected artist, she said she doesn’t believe there was any intention to disrespect the nation.
