
Bollywood actor Sara Ali Khan has expressed her grief over the devastation in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand, caused by a cloudburst which triggered flash floods. As videos of the destruction surfaced online, showing people, houses and vehicles being swept away by the floodwaters and landslides, Sara took to her handle to offer prayers and support to the families of the victims.

The actress, who shares a personal connection with the region, since the shoot of her debut film, ‘Kedarnath’, took to her Instagram stories to express her solidarity with the victims. “My heart goes out to everyone impacted by the incident in Uttarakhand. Praying for safety, strength and healing for all,” she wrote.

The actress also did her bit to help spread awareness about the relief efforts, and shared emergency contact numbers on her handle. She shared a post that read, “Uttarkashi District Emergency Operation Centre has issued the following emergency numbers: 01374-222126, 01374-222722, 9456556431.”The flash floods and landslides resulted in the loss of several lives. Homes, hotels, and homestays in the Dharali area were damaged as the region was struck by the cloudburst that triggered severe flooding.
Relief Efforts
Over the past hours, emergency teams from the State Police, Army, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) were deployed for rescue and relief operations. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami confirmed that approximately 130 people stranded in affected areas had been relocated to safer zones. He also directed authorities to ensure immediate access to food, shelter, and medical assistance for those impacted.The cloudburst has left a trail of devastation in Uttarkashi, with authorities working around the clock to provide aid and prevent further loss.
