
NEW DELHI: Police in Kaushambi have arrested Balbeer Singh in connection with the murder of a woman in Sirathu on Wednesday. The woman was allegedly killed by having her throat slit. Following the incident, a police team analysed CCTV footage and interrogated people in the area. Based on their investigation, Balbeer Singh Patel was arrested after an encounter on Friday. “The murder weapon has been recovered from his possession, along with a motorcycle and the victim’s mobile phone. During the face-off, he fired at the police and in retaliatory fire by the police, a bullet hit his leg,” a police official said.

“He has been arrested and sent for treatment and he will be produced in the court today. He solely planned and executed the crime. He was the lover of the victim before her marriage,” a police official added further. Anjali, married to Dilip Patel, who works in a private firm in Delhi, had been married for just six months. According to Additional Superintendent of Police Rajesh Kumar Singh, the incident occurred around 6 pm in the Saini area while Anjali’s in-laws were working in the fields. “Preliminary reports indicate that three unidentified men on a motorcycle entered the house and attacked Anjali, repeatedly slitting her throat with a sharp weapon, resulting in her death on the spot,” he said. The crime came to light when Anjali’s seven-year-old nephew, Aryan, who was playing outside, saw the assailants fleeing on the motorcycle. He ran inside and found his aunt lying in a pool of blood, alerting neighbours who informed her family.
