Sunny Leone may be a glamorous star on screen, but off it, she is first and foremost a doting, hands-on mother to her three children. For Sunny and her husband Daniel Weber, however, the road to parenthood was far from easy.Opening up on Soha Ali Khan’s podcast, the actress revealed the emotional highs and lows they faced before finally seeing their dream of a family come true.
The struggles before parenthood
Sunny shared that she and Daniel lost six children due to medical complications. “We had four girls and two boys, but that didn’t work out. One day she (the surrogate) is like, ‘I am pregnant.’ But we found out that the sack was blank. The baby was not going to grow,” she recalled. The repeated heartbreaks were difficult to process. “We were like, did we do something wrong? Does God not love us? Why is this happening? And why can’t we just adopt a little girl?” Sunny said, candidly sharing her vulnerable moments.
Nisha’s entry into their lives
It was adoption that finally brought them joy. Speaking about her daughter Nisha, Sunny’s eyes lit up as she recounted their first meeting. “In that time of losing those four girls, we applied for adoption. We tell Nisha that she chose us. You picked us as parents. Nisha was just 18 months old but the size of a one-year-old. The moment I saw her, I knew — that’s my baby! There was an instant connection, like she’s mine and nobody else’s.”For the uninitiated, Sunny and Daniel adopted Nisha in 2017. A year later, their family grew with the arrival of twin boys, Noah and Asher, born via surrogacy in 2018.
