Mahesh Babu has joined hands with the ace filmmaker SS Rajamouli for the globe-trotting adventure thriller, tentatively titled ‘SSMB29’. The film, also starring Priyanka Chopra, was announced in 2024 and began production earlier this year. While the makers have kept details tightly under wraps, fans finally received an exciting update from Rajamouli on Mahesh Babu’s 50th birthday.
Rajamouli’s special message
Taking to X, the ‘RRR’ director addressed cinema lovers across the globe and fans of Mahesh Babu, acknowledging their curiosity. He wrote, “Dear Cinema Lovers in India and around the world, as well as fans of Mahesh. It has been a while since we began shooting, and we appreciate your eagerness to know about the film.”
Why the wait?
Explaining the reason behind the silence, the filmmaker added, “The story and scope of this film are so vast that I feel mere pictures or press conferences cannot do it justice. We are currently working on something to showcase the essence, depth, and immersive world we are creating. This will be unveiled in November 2025, and we are trying to make it a NEVER-BEFORE-SEEN reveal. Thank you all for your patience. – SS Rajamouli”.In another post, Rajamouli also shared an intriguing poster for the film. The simple but symbolic design shows what appears to be Mahesh Babu’s chest, he seems to be wearing a low-cut vest with blood smeared on part of it. A pendant featuring an idol of Lord Shiva’s trishul and his ox, Nandi. Along with the poster he wrote, “The First Reveal in November 2025… #GlobeTrotter”.

While plot details remain a mystery, ‘SSMB29’ is touted to be a grand-scale adventure spanning multiple countries, with Indian culture and global appeal.Mahesh Babu is expected to be seen in a physically challenging role, with extensive action sequences shot across exotic locations. He has undergone extensive training and muscle for the role, which is touted to be inspired by Lord Hanuman.
