A notice circulating on social media platforms, including X (formerly Twitter), has sparked concern among candidates appearing for the SSC Stenographer Grade C and D Examination 2025. The post claims that the first shift of the exam scheduled for August 8 (Friday) at Maharshi Mehi Online Examination Centre, Sabour, Bhagalpur in Bihar, has been cancelled due to “technical issues” at the venue.
What the viral notice says
The alleged notification states that “due to some operational challenges” the first shift of the Stenographer Grade C and D exam at the mentioned centre “is hereby cancelled.” It further mentions that all affected candidates will be allowed to take a re-examination, the date and venue for which will be announced later.According to the notice, candidates need not reapply and will be informed individually through SMS on their registered mobile numbers once the new schedule is decided. Such arrangements, if confirmed, would aim to ensure that no candidate is disadvantaged due to the disruption.
No official confirmation yet
Despite the traction this post is receiving online, the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has not released any such notice on its official website, ssc.gov.in, or through other official communication channels. The absence of an official announcement means the authenticity of the circulating notice remains unverified.Candidates are strongly advised to rely only on SSC’s official updates before making any decisions regarding travel or accommodation, particularly those who may have long distances to cover to reach the exam venue.
SSC stenographer 2025: Exam schedule and scale
The SSC Stenographer Grade C and D computer-based examination is being held from August 6 to 8 across 157 test centres in 85 cities nationwide. More than 3.50 lakh candidates have registered for the recruitment exam this year, which is one of SSC’s significant annual selection tests. In an earlier statement, SSC said that 79% of the candidates were allotted centres in their first, second, or third preference cities as indicated during the application process. The remaining candidates were assigned to centres in nearby cities, with an average travel distance of around 220 kilometres from their registered address.
Why this matters for candidates
Exam cancellations, if confirmed, can cause significant logistical and emotional stress for candidates, particularly those travelling from other districts or states. Many candidates book travel and accommodation weeks in advance, and sudden schedule changes can lead to financial losses and added pressure. This is why official confirmation is critical. Candidates should watch the SSC website closely and avoid acting on unverified information shared on social media.TOI Education is on WhatsApp now. Follow us here.
