
Silver rate today: Silver surged by Rs 6,000 to a fresh peak of Rs 1,63,000 per kilogram in New Delhi, boosted by global safe-haven buying and expectations of US rate cuts.The white metal experienced its second steep rise in a week, after climbing Rs 7,400 to close at Rs 1,57,400 per kg on October 6. The All India Sarafa Association reported that silver had closed at Rs 1,57,000 per kg on Wednesday, PTI reported.In the local bullion market, gold of 99.9 per cent and 99.5 per cent purity remained steady at their record levels of Rs 1,26,600 and Rs 1,26,000 per 10 grams, inclusive of all taxes, on Thursday.On global markets, spot gold traded marginally lower at $4,039.26 per ounce, while silver rose more than 1 per cent to $49.67 per ounce, reflecting strong safe-haven buying amid geopolitical and economic uncertainties.
