AMRITSAR: A chilling video clip captures the moment AAP sarpanch Jarmal Singh was killed, as two gunmen walk into a wedding venue, approach him without haste, pull a pistol from the waist and fire a single point-blank shot to his head.Singh collapses instantly and the assailants flee the resort within seconds, even as wedding guests look on in shock. Jarmal Singh, the sarpanch of Valtoha village in Tarn Taran district, was attending a ceremony at the Marigold Marriage Palace when the attack took place between 2.30 pm and 3 pm on Sunday, shortly after the bride and groom had left, police said.\ Investigators said the attackers showed no attempt to conceal their identities despite the presence of dozens of guests. “The manner of the attack suggests premeditation. The victim appears to have been under surveillance,” a police official said. Singh was rushed to a nearby hospital but succumbed to his injuries. Soon after, a purported social media post by gangster Prabh Dasuwal, along with Donny Bal and others, claimed responsibility for the killing. Amritsar deputy commissioner of police (Investigation) Ravinder Pal Singh Sandhu said the case was being investigated from all angles. “The culprits will be arrested soon,” he said. Additional deputy commissioner JS Walia said the marriage palace had been sealed and CCTV footage was being examined to trace the escape route of the assailants. Police are also scrutinising a photograph that allegedly shows the attackers. Police records indicate Singh had survived three earlier attempts on his life. Reacting to the killing, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal condemned the murder and said a spate of public shootings reflected a breakdown of law and order under the Bhagwant Mann government, which he said must be held accountable.
