BHOPAL: A young man allegedly died by suicide after a family dispute in Sagar district. Incident was reported from Dudera locality of Ward-1, where his wife also ended her life after seeing his body, police said.According to police, Chintaman Kushwaha (24), younger son of Jalam Kushwaha, died first after allegedly hanging himself at his residence.When his wife Meera Kushwaha (22) saw his body, she reportedly went into shock and later jumped into a well located about 30 metres from the house, resulting in her death.
The couple had a three-month-old son. Locals said Meera had returned to her in-laws’ house from her parental home around 10 days ago.After receiving information, a team from Lidhaura police station reached the spot. Police removed Chintaman’s body from the noose, while villagers helped retrieve Meera’s body from the well using a cot. After completing legal formalities, both bodies were sent to the Jatara Community Health Center for post-mortem examination.Police said Chintaman earned his livelihood by running a street food stall. The reason behind the dispute and the exact sequence of events are being investigated.Residents also told police that Chintaman’s mother had died by suicide earlier after allegedly consuming poison. The infant has been left orphaned and is currently being looked after by relatives.
