Ranveer Singh’s action drama ‘Dhurandhar’ has officially received a green signal from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) despite the objections raised by the family of Ashoka Chakra and Sena Medal awardee Major Mohit Sharma.According to News 18, the CBFC has made it clear that the film does not depict the life of Major Sharma in any direct or indirect manner. The board firmly noted that Dhurandhar is a “work of fiction” and that the storyline should not be interpreted as a representation of real military history or any decorated officer. The certification process is set to continue as per standard guidelines, and there is no requirement to send the film to the Indian Army for review prior to release. What triggered the legal concern? The clearance comes just a day after a Delhi High Court bench led by Justice Sachin Datta hinted that the CBFC could approach the Indian Army if needed. The petition from Major Sharma’s family argued that several sequences in the trailer resembled key moments from the late officer’s military career, including classified counter-terrorism missions in Kashmir. The plea stated that “a martyr is not a commercial commodity” and that his life cannot be portrayed “for profit, without truth, dignity, or due permission.” The family further claimed that the film appeared to showcase sensitive infiltration strategies and operational details without clearance or script approval from the Indian Army’s ADGPI.Film heads for release amid high anticipationWith the CBFC’s clarification now ending the speculation, Dhurandhar moves forward toward its theatrical release on December 5, 2025. The high-octane film stars Ranveer Singh in the lead role, with Sara Arjun playing a pivotal character. The cast also includes heavyweights Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, Akshaye Khanna, and R. Madhavan in significant roles. Earlier the makers had shared the trailer for the movie which had received good responses, especially for the ending music for the title card – ‘Karwaan Ki Talaash’.
