Ram Gopal Varma says Shah Rukh Khan movies are not his type
In an interview with The Hans India, Ram Gopal Varma opened up about if Shah Rukh Khan can be a worthy successor to Amitabh Bachchan. Talking about the same, he said, “Shah Rukh has a very different style, in terms of his charm and everything.”The filmmaker shared that he grew up watching movies like ‘Deewaar’, ‘Trishul’, and ‘Zanjeer’, and hence, those films have impacted his life. The director added, “That’s why I take to Amitabh Bachchan.”While speaking about Khan, he shared, “Shah Rukh Khan’s romantic films aren’t my type of films. So, I’d be the wrong person to comment on Shah Rukh Khan.”

Ram Gopal Varma shared that he doesn’t believe he can collaborate with Shah Rukh Khan for a movie, even though the superstar has changed his image from a romantic hero to an action star.RGV said, “I’m not capable of working in a film with Shah Rukh Khan because of what his fans expect from him.” He went on to add, “That’s not the kind of cinema I’m qualified to do.”

RGV once considered collaborating with SRK for the movie ‘Company’ in 2002. However, reportedly, after meeting the actor, the filmmaker changed his mind. Varma had shared that his first choice for the movie was Khan, and he narrated the story to the actor. Khan was interested; however, according to the director, “Shah Rukh has a certain natural body language, very energetic,” adding, “Malik’s character is that he’s a very subtle guy.“Ram Gopal Varma shared that he felt that SRK’s natural energy would go against his lead character. He said, “To make him still, I felt, would be doing an injustice both to him and to the film.”And hence, he approached Ajay Devgn for the role.
