Ram Gopal Varma, fondly known as RGV, is one of the most outspoken filmmakers in the country. Over the years, the director of films like ‘Satya’ and ‘Rangeela’ has never shied away from sharing his frank opinions. This time, he has stepped forward to comment on the controversy around Deepika Padukone reportedly exiting Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s upcoming film ‘Spirit’.The matter created quite a stir in the film industry. It also sparked a bigger debate on how important work-life balance and fixed working hours are for actors.Deepika’s reported exit sparked debateIt all started when reports claimed that Deepika had walked out of ‘Spirit’, which stars Prabhas in the lead. The story going around was that Deepika had put forward some conditions about her working hours. When these didn’t line up with what the film needed, she is said to have decided to move on.While there’s been no official word from Deepika or the makers, this still got many talking. People began wondering: should actors have the power to set their work times, or is it all just part of the tough film business?RGV says it’s all blown out of shapeJumping into the conversation, Ram Gopal Varma recently shared his thoughts in an interview with Hindustan Times. According to him, people have made too big a deal of the whole thing. “When it comes to having fixed shift timings for actors, I really think that it is an agreement between two people. Each of them has a right to say what they want, and the other one has a right to refuse,” he said.RGV added, “The whole thing (between Deepika and Sandeep) was a very exaggerated thing in my opinion. Because I can say, I want to work for 23 hours, and the actor can say I want to work only for one hour. That’s their call. But how can one human being force another human being to do something? And they can agree to work or not work with each other… But that thing was just kind of blown up in the media.”About ‘Spirit’Meanwhile, ‘Spirit’ is still going strong. Now starring Prabhas and Triptii Dimri, the film is one of the most awaited projects from Sandeep Reddy Vanga, who’s known for hits like ‘Kabir Singh’ and ‘Animal’. Fans can’t wait to see what this new team will bring to the big screen. The film is aiming for a release in 2027. And once he finishes with ‘Spirit’, reportedlyy Sandeep Reddy Vanga will turn his attention to writing ‘Animal Park’, the follow-up to his last big film starring Ranbir Kapoor.
