Bhagavad Gita is one of the most sacred Hindu text, which is full of teachings given by Lord Krishna to Arjuna, when they both were standing in the battlefield of Kurukshetra. In Bhagvad Gita Lord Krishna explained how this universe works, who is ruling this universe and how people should behave when they are present on earth. He even showed his real form to Arjuna so that he could understand the depth of his teachings. Lord Krishna gave the statement in which he said that he is the Moon, – “I Am the Moon Among the Nakshatras” though this quote is translated in simple language but in Bhagavad Gita it is written as “नक्षत्राणामहं शशी”. Now we will move forward and understand the meaning of this statement.
“I Am the Moon Among the Nakshatras”
“नक्षत्राणामहं शशी” (Nakshatranam Aham Sasi) – this quote is written in Bhagavad Gita (Chapter 10, Verse 21). The meaning of this verse is that Lord Krishna reveals that he is manifested in the form of Moon, one of the celestial bodies. This is a verr powerful line to explain that the Moon you watch daily in the sky, that is not just a planet but manifestation of Lord Krishna. This shloka holds a great spiritual and astrological significance.
Lord Krishna as Moon planet
According to Bhagavad Gita, Lord Krishna identifies himself with the Moon. Now if we see things in an astrological ways then Moon possess 16 kalas and Lord Krishna is also called as 16 kala sampoorna means who possess 16 qualities. Moon represents mind, emotions, feelings and water and Lord Krishna is the controller of all the human beings. He resonates himself with the Moon who governs the inner soul and that’s why he is known as Parmatma. Just like the Moon, Krishna soothes the mind, calms the tides and sustains the universe with kindness, compassion, balance and guidance.
