Pedro Pascal has officially landed a leading role in Todd Haynes’ upcoming film ‘De Noche’, joining Danny Ramirez in the Mexican love story. With this casting, Pedro replaces Joaquin Phoenix, who abruptly exited the film days before filming began in Mexico.
About ‘De Noche’
The projected was halted with Haynes telling Variety, “What happened this summer was tough. But the film itself and the script [which Haynes co-wrote with Jon Raymond] itself may resurrect in a different form someday.” In the film, the two men find themselves caught in the crosshairs of a corrupt political system, forcing them to flee Mexico.
Predro Pascal a fan favourite
Following Phoenix’s exit, Pedro was the fan favourite with reports last August claiming that he was in the running for the role. The film, said to be a love story, will reportedly begin filming next month. Written by Haynes and Jon Raymond, ‘De Noche’ is said to centre on a hard-boiled police detective, played by Pascal, who becomes romantically involved with a younger teacher, portrayed by Danny Ramirez.
Pedro’s film slate
On the work front, Pascal, who was last seen in the romantic film ‘Materialist’, and the superhero film ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’, was also seen in the series ‘The Last of Us’ Season 2. Looking ahead, he will next be seen on the big screen in the big ticket MCU film ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, as Reed Richards, aka Mister Fantastic. He will also be seen in the Mandalorian for ‘Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu’, the first Star-Wars spinoff series to make its way to the big screen.
