Odia music composer Abhijit Majumdar has passed away today, January 25, at the age of 54. Reportedly, he was admitted to AIIMS and had been being treated since September 2025. The composer’s soulful melodies shaped the generations of Ollywood cinema.He was diagnosed with multiple health issues like chronic liver disease, hypertension, hypothyroidism, and more. However, reportedly, the composer’s health condition deteriorated on Saturday night. After that he was put on life support. Unfortunately, the musician succumbed to the health condition and took his last breath today.As per the reports, Majumdar is survived by his wife, Ranjita Majumdar, and their son.The entire Odia industry has been mourning the loss of the composer. For those unaware, the musician is considered the highly influential figure of the Odia industry.He rose to fame in 2000 and has been an active personality in the music scene of Odisha. He has composed albums for movies as well as independent projects. In his entire career, he has composed over 700 songs in Odia and Sambalpuri cinema.Former actor and Odisha MLA Akash Das Nayak expressed his grief and wrote, “I am deeply saddened by the passing of renowned playback singer and music director Abhijit Majumdar. His remarkable contribution to the film and music industry will always be remembered. I extend my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and pray to Lord Shri Jagannath for the eternal peace of the departed soul. Om Shanti.”May his soul rest in peace.
