 
         
The National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued a revised seat matrix for Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) admissions across medical colleges in India for the academic year 2025-26.According to the latest update, the total number of medical seats has been adjusted from 1,28,925 to 1,28,875, marking a reduction of 50 seats. The revision comes after the Commission added 11,350 new seats this year, including those in the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER).An earlier version of the seat matrix had mentioned an increase of 11,400 seats, creating a discrepancy of 100 seats when compared to the latest figures. The NMC clarified that during the renewal process for 2025-26, 456 seats were removed due to typographical errors made while updating institutional data.

In a separate notice, the Commission has also directed students enrolled in postgraduate super speciality programmes to verify their names and details on the official NMC website. Those whose names are missing have been advised to immediately contact their respective Directorate of Medical Education (DME) or the designated counselling authority for rectification.
NEET UG counselling 2025 : Stray round schedule
Candidates who were not allotted a seat in any of the previous rounds of National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET UG) 2025 counselling will be eligible to participate in the stray vacancy round.As per the official schedule, registration for the stray round will begin on November 4, and participating institutions will release the tentative seat matrix on the same day.Applicants who secure a seat in this round must report to the allotted college with all required documents to confirm their admission.
