
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has stated that the state government is committed to increasing milk production in Madhya Pradesh to enhance the economic wellbeing of farmers and livestock rearers. Efforts are underway to connect 50% of the state’s villages with a comprehensive milk network.
Addressing senior officials from the Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Department at his residence on Sunday, Dr. Yadav informed that 381 new dairy cooperative societies have been established, linking 9,500 milk producers with the cooperative dairy system.
It is noteworthy that Union Home and Cooperation Minister Shri Amit Shah had directed amendments in the state’s dairy development plan to make it more beneficial for Madhya Pradesh. The revised strategy aims to tap into 72% of the state’s milk production potential and increase market accessibility by 15%.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav also emphasised on Increase milk collection across the state, Improve the genetic quality of milch animals, Develop model farms for indigenous cattle breeds with the support of the National Dairy Development Board, Enhance the brand value of Sanchi dairy products, Establish a Heifer Rearing Centre under the Bhopal Dugdh Sangh, Ensure timely payment to milk-producing farmers and Accelerate digitization efforts in dairy operations.
Milk Unions Increase Milk Purchase Price by Rs. 2.50 to Rs. 6 per Litre
Officials informed the Chief Minister that not only is milk collection increasing across various milk unions, but the interests of farmers and producers are also being actively safeguarded. Milk unions have raised procurement prices by Rs. 2.50 to Rs. 6 per litre.
Notably, the Jabalpur and Gwalior Milk Unions have seen a significant rise in milk collection. To support pending payments to milk producers, both unions have been provided with Rs. 2 crore each as working capital.
