Even the fiercest politicians have their fan moments—and Mahua Moitra just proved it. In a candid and endearing confession, the firebrand MP revealed she has a major crush on none other than Bollywood favourite Pankaj Tripathi. From handwritten notes to a starstruck phone call, her admiration is as relatable as it gets.
Mahua’s Bollywood favourites
In a chat with India Today, Mahua shared her love for Bollywood films, naming the Munnabhai series and Vicky Donor among her favorites. She also revealed being a big fan of Pankaj Tripathi, calling him her ultimate crush and praising his performances in Mirzapur and Gangs of Wasseypur. She even once wrote him a note—though she playfully noted he never responded.
A note, a coffee request
When asked about the note she sent Pankaj, Moitra revealed that she had expressed her admiration for him and mentioned she’d love to meet him over coffee. She had passed on the message through a TV anchor who was set to interview the actor next. However, she added with a laugh that Tripathi, who reportedly lives in Alibaug, isn’t known for meeting people over coffee—so the meeting never happened.
Ravi Kishan to the rescue
Her admiration for the actor runs so deep that she even approached fellow MP and actor Ravi Kishan to help set up an interaction. Ravi obliged by arranging a phone call with the actor, but Mahua admits she was so starstruck and shy during the conversation that she completely forgot she’d even sent him a note.Tripathi, celebrated for his magnetic screen presence in films like Newton, Stree, and Mimi, and his unforgettable portrayal of Kaleen Bhaiya in Mirzapur, has built a loyal fan base that spans across generations and genres.
