CM Dr. Yadav Participates Balram Jayanti Celebrations in Mandla
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that Lord Shri Balram is the father of India’s agricultural tradition. He was known as Haladhar, a man of immense strength, hard work, purity of heart and valour. His birth anniversary is celebrated as ‘Hal-Shashti’ for the welfare of children. He was an ideal son and an ideal brother. The pairs of brothers—Shri Ram-Lakshman, Shri Krishna-Balram, and Samrat Vikramaditya-Bharthari—are exemplary. They are the pride of our Sanatan culture and our ideals. On the occasion of Balram Jayanti, we should remember him and imbibe his values in our lives.
The Chief Minister was addressing the Balram Jayanti celebrations in Mandla on Thursday. On the occasion, CM Dr. Yadav transferred Rs. 1,671 crore of Kisan Samman Nidhi directly into the accounts of more than 82 lakh farmers in the state. He also dedicated and performed Bhoomi-Pujan for 24 development works worth Rs. 226.12 crore. The CM called upon the public to celebrate Independence Day with enthusiasm and remember great revolutionaries and patriots such as Raja Shankar Shah, Raghunath Shah, Rani Durgavati, Tatya Tope and Tantya Mama, while pledging to contribute to the state’s development.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that both farmers and soldiers are the pride of the nation. On one hand, the food-giving farmers work tirelessly in the fields to feed us all—On the other, our soldiers guard our borders, risking their lives for our safety. Whenever enemies have dared to challenge the nation, our soldiers have given a befitting reply. ‘Operation Sindoor’ is a living example—when terrorists in Pahalgam made a heinous attempt to dishonour our sisters, our soldiers wiped out all terrorist hideouts in Pakistan.
CM Dr. Yadav said Madhya Pradesh is the fastest-growing state in India. Until 2023, the state still lacked adequate basic facilities like irrigation, electricity, water and roads. However, in the last 20 years, remarkable progress has been made in every sector. During the last year and a quarter, irrigation capacity has increased by about 6.5 lakh hectares. The government is working for the welfare of youth, women, farmers, the poor and every section of society. Agriculture in the state is advancing rapidly—Madhya Pradesh has won the Krishi Karman Award seven times, ranks first in the country in pulse production and second in foodgrain production. After the procurement of wheat and paddy with bonuses, the state government has now decided to purchase Kodo and Kutki millet at support prices from this year. Progressive farming is taking place, and schemes like Namo Drone Didi are good examples. Earlier, agriculture courses were taught in only two universities—today, they are offered in 16 government and private universities in the state. Recently, one lakh government posts were filled, and recruitment for 2.5 lakh more posts will take place soon. Continuous efforts are also being made to promote industries and self-employment.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, India’s honor and prestige have grown globally. Earlier, India was the world’s 10th-largest economy. Now, due to PM Modi’s efforts, it has become the fourth-largest and is moving towards becoming the third. PM Modi introduced direct benefit transfers to beneficiaries’ accounts for the first time, and Madhya Pradesh is also implementing this system.
CM Dr. Yadav said that Mandla district is rich in natural resources and continuous development work is underway. Today, several projects were inaugurated or had performed Bhoomi-Pujan. Efforts are being made for cow protection and promotion across the state. In each janpad, one village is being developed as a ‘Vrindavan Village’. The goal is for every household to engage in cow-rearing, making every home a ‘Gokul’. The aim is to raise milk production from the current 9% to 20% in the next three years.
At the start of the program, CM Dr. Yadav performed a puja of Lord Balram. The district administration presented him with a plough. Public Health Engineering Minister Smt. Sampatiya Uikey, Lakhpati Didis of the State Rural Livelihood Mission, and ‘Ladli Behnas’ tied rakhi on the wrists of CM Dr. Yadav with affection. On this occasion, a booklet on ‘Natural Farming’ prepared by the district administration was released. Benefits were also distributed to beneficiaries under various government schemes. The CM visited an agriculture-focused exhibition at the venue and also performed Govardhan Puja. He even joined the tribal community present in playing traditional musical instruments.
Public Health Engineering Minister Smt. Sampatiya Uikey, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Cottage & Rural Industries & district in-charge minister Shri Dilip Jaiswal, MP, Shri Faggan Singh Kulaste, District Panchayat President Shri Sanjay Kushram, Shri Prafull Mishra, along with public representatives and a large number of farmers, were present on the occasion.
