The Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan has announced a major recruitment drive for Special Educator posts for the academic year 2026–27. A total of 987 sanctioned vacancies have been allotted for Trained Graduate Teacher and Primary Teacher roles, aimed at strengthening support for Children with Special Needs across Kendriya Vidyalayas.These posts have been approved inasmuch as they are in consonance with inputs derived from various KVS Regional Offices under the Ministry of Education. The detailed notification in respect of the method of recruitment would be issued shortly on our website, kvsangathan.nic.in, with applications likely to follow in early February 2026.Distribution of Sanctioned Posts across KVsKVS has provisionally distributed the vacant posts of special educators, which total to 987, in Kendriya Vidyalas located in the country. These allocations have been done keeping in mind the regional demand and feedback from offices located in those regions. Out of the total number of allocations, 493 special educator-TTG posts and special educator-PRT posts amounting to 494 have been provided.These appointments are aimed at providing structured academic and developmental support for Children with Special Needs within the school system of KVS. State-wise vacancy details for TGT and PRT posts will be made available through an official PDF to be released along with the notification. Eligibility criteria for PRT Special Educator postsCandidates applying for PRT Special Educator posts must have passed Senior Secondary (Class 12) with a minimum of 50 per cent marks. Applicants must also possess a two-year Diploma in Special Education in any recognised category of disability.Passing CTET Paper-I conducted by CBSE is mandatory for eligibility. Besides, the candidate must show the ability for teaching in both Hindi and English, according to KVS teaching requirements.Eligibility criteria for TGT Special Educator postsThe candidate applying for TGT Special Educator posts should have a graduation degree with at least 50 per cent aggregate marks. Professional qualifications include a B.Ed. in Special Education or a B.Ed. (General) along with a one-year Diploma in Special Education.Applicants must have qualified CTET Paper-II conducted by CBSE. In addition, valid registration with the Rehabilitation Council of India is compulsory for appointment to these posts.Age limit and selection processThe cut-off date for age calculation will be specified in the official notification. Age Limit: The upper age limit is 35 years in case of TGT posts. Similarly, the upper age limit is 30 years in case of PRT posts. The extent of age relaxation would be communicated laterThe selection shall entail an objective Computer Based Test with 180 marks with questions in General English, Hindi, Reasoning Skills, Points of View on Education, and Knowledge from respective subjects. Short-listed candidates shall have to appear in the Professional Competence Test, comprising demo of teaching skills and interviews, with an allocation of 60 marks in total. Normally, weightage is given in 70:30 ratio, i.e., written examination and interview.
