Trigger warning: This article contains mention of death.The famed martial arts actor Bruce Leung Choi-sang, who is best known for his role in ‘Kung Fu Hustle’, has passed away at the age of 77. The actor was well known for his acting prowess and his on-screen presence in films. He passed away on January 14 due to a cardiac arrest.As reported by Singapore news outlets CNA and The Standard, the news of the actor’s demise came out after a farewell message was shared on his social media account. His funeral service is scheduled for 26 January in Shenzhen’s Longgang district in China.

The farewell message that was shared on his account read, “I’ve gone to a very, very faraway place to make a film. Please forgive me for leaving without saying goodbye. Just think of it as me having gone to a very distant place to shoot a movie. I like having a bit of mystery. Live well on my behalf. Love is always here. Remember that I love you all.”

Over the years of his career, Choi-sang had made a name for himself and was often referred to as one of the ‘Four Dragons’ of Hong Kong, along with Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, and Ti Lung. He was born on April 28, 1948, and started his career in the entertainment industry at an early age. In 1975, he married Eurasian Hong Kong singer Irene Ryder, and the two even had a daughter. The two, however, split in 1980. 15 years later, he married Song Xiang, with whom he had a daughter and a son. Some of his most famous works include, but are not limited to, ‘Deep Thrust’, ‘The Tattoo Connection’, ‘Magnificent Bodyguards’, ‘The Dragon Lives Again’, ‘Broken Oath’, ‘Princess and the Seven Kung Fu Masters’, ‘The Buddha’s Shadow’, and ‘Just Another Pandora’s Box.’His last known film was ‘Heroes’, which was released in 2020.
