Bollywood legend Dharmendra breathed his last on November 24 at his Mumbai home, only a few weeks short of celebrating his 90th birthday. The celebrated star of over 300 films had recently been hospitalized at Breach Candy Hospital due to breathing issues. Though he returned home after being discharged on November 12 and showed signs of improvement, his health suddenly declined, leading to his demise.
Ash immersion in Haridwar
On Wednesday, December 3, the Deol family conducted the ash immersion ceremony for Bollywood icon Dharmendra in the Ganga at Har Ki Pauri, Haridwar, Uttarakhand, following a low-key funeral. Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol joined other relatives in observing the Vedic rituals with priests’ guidance, maintaining strict privacy and security. The event unfolded peacefully at a private ghat like Pilibhit House, after the family arrived the previous day.
Viral video confrontation
A widely circulated video captures Sunny’s furious clash with a paparazzo covertly filming his father Dharmendra’s asthi visarjan ceremony. The actor walks up, seizes the camera, and bangs the person with rage. “Paisa chahiye? Kitne paise chahiye tere ko?” he snaps in the footage.
Dharmendra’s family legacy
Dharmendra had six children total, including actors Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol and Esha Deol. He married Prakash Kaur in 1954; they had four kids, Sunny and Bobby included. In 1980, he married Hema Malini without divorcing his first wife; Esha and Ahana are their daughters.
