
Actress Kimberly Hébert Gregory, of Vice Principals, The Chi, and Five Feet Apart fame, has passed away at the age of 52. Her ex-husband, actor and musician Chester Gregory, confirmed the news on social media.

Chester paid tribute to her, praising her brilliance and describing her as a Black woman whose presence lit up every room. The post also noted that the couple shared a son. In the 2016 HBO series Vice Principals, which starred Danny McBride and Walton Goggins, Gregory played school principal Belinda Brown. The show ran for two seasons.Gregory also co-starred with Jason Ritter in Kevin (Probably) Saves the World, which aired on ABC from 2017 to 2018. In 2023, she appeared in the Netflix animated series Carol & the End of the World. Over her career, she made guest appearances on many popular shows, including Gossip Girl, Private Practice, The Big Bang Theory, Grey’s Anatomy, Better Call Saul, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and The Chi.

Most of Gregory’s work was in television, though she also appeared in two films: the 2007 Chris Rock comedy I Think I Love My Wife and the 2019 Justin Baldoni drama Five Feet Apart.In a heartfelt Instagram tribute, Gregory’s former Vice Principals co-star Goggins called her one of the best. “One of the best I’ve ever worked with,” Goggins wrote. “I had the honor … the good fortune of getting to know, getting to spend months working with this Queen on ‘Vice Principals.’ She made me laugh like no other.
