Rukmini Vasanth opens up about her role
Rukmini Vasanth, who plays the regal Princess Kanakavathi in ‘Kantara Chapter 1’, shared her experience of taking on a role that pushed her beyond her comfort zone.In an interview with ETimes, she said, “I wouldn’t call them challenges, that’s our work as actors. In this film, I play the role of a princess, which is far from who I am. So I had to really understand her mental state and prepare accordingly. There was a lot of physical training too—I learned sword fighting, horse riding and even worked on the dialect of South Karnataka, which is slightly different from the Kannada I usually speak. All of it was exciting and enriching.”For Rukmini, this film was more than just another role. She said, “Sometimes, in an acting career, you get a film that helps you explore one aspect like action, or dance, or emotions. But ‘Kantara’ gave me everything at once. I had to stretch myself in multiple directions, which was very gratifying as an actor. It made me grow, and it also made me aware of areas I can continue to work on. In that sense, it was truly an eye-opener.”Her performance as Kanakavathi has been widely praised, with fans appreciating the grace and strength she brought to the role.
