After navigating a bumpy theatrical release and facing delays from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), ‘JSK,’ starring Suresh Gopi and Anupama Parameswaran, is finally heading to OTT. The courtroom drama, which hit theaters on July 17, 2025, received mixed reviews upon release.
Where to watch?
The film hopes to find a wider audience when it begins streaming on ZEE5 from August 15, which coincides with Independence Day. The movie will be available in Malayalam, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and Kannada. The OTT platform shared the update via an Instagram post that read, “ആര് എതിർത്താലും നിഷേധിക്കപ്പെടുന്ന നീതി നേടിയെടുക്കുക തന്നെ ചെയ്യും. ആഗസ്റ്റ് 15 മുതൽ, “Janaki V v/s State of Kerala” ZEE5 മലയാളത്തിൽ. PREMIERES 15th August.”
A fight for justice that divides and stuns
‘JSK’ explores a sensitive and layered narrative. It follows Janaki, a young woman and survivor of sexual assault, whose search for justice hits a roadblock after her father’s mysterious death during a political protest. The film also stars Shruti Ramachandran, Madhav Suresh, Baiju Santhosh, Divya Pillai, and Aksar Ali in key roles.
A rookie’s moment with a veteran
In an exclusive with ETimes, actor Ratheesh Krishnan, who plays a supporting role in the film, shared a touching memory from the shoot. “During a courtroom scene, I had a combination take with Suresh Gopi sir. After the third take, he clapped—and the whole set joined in. For someone just starting out, that meant everything to me.”Ratheesh further said, “My character Tony in ‘J.S.K’ actually came into my hands quite unexpectedly—and that’s the real truth. It wasn’t a role I was initially cast for. I had gone to the film’s puja function and requested a role, but I was told there wasn’t anything available as the roles had already been filled. However, many people supported me and vouched that I would be a good fit for the character.”
