Priyamani has always been open about the ups and downs in her personal life. The actress, who is married to Mustafa Raj, once spoke candidly about how she dealt with negative comments and rumours surrounding their relationship.
Priyamani on facing negative comments
In an old conversation with Galatta India, Priyamani said, “To be honest, it did affect me. Not only me per se but my family also, especially my father and mother. But I have to say my husband stood by me as a rock. He said, ‘Look, whatever happens, I will let everything come to me first. But all I would say is hold my hand and be with me through every step.'”
‘My husband stood by me as a rock’
Priyamani also shared that they faced challenges even before getting married. She said there were many rumours about her when they were dating. “I told him, ‘Stand by me and trust me,’” she recalled, adding that they chose to face everything together — the tough times and the happy ones — because they had promised to stay by each other’s side for life.
‘We took care of everything together’
“It did upset me, but at that time I wasn’t in Mumbai, I was in Bangalore with my husband. We took care of everything and didn’t let it hinder my parents also. We just asked them to not bother much because it’s us at the end of the day. Their blessings and prayers have taken us a long way,” Priyamani shared.
On equal pay in the film industry
Priyamani, in a recent interview with News18 Showsha, shared that equal pay for both male and female stars is still a distant dream. However, the actress stated that she has no complaints about it and gave a reason to back her opinion. She said, “I believe that whatever is your market value, you ask for it and you will get paid for it.”The actress went on to reveal, “There have been times when I was paid less than my male co-star. It does not bother me, though. I know my market value and my worth.”Priyamani expressed that it is her opinion, and she will charge what she deserves. The ‘Jawan’ actress stated that she won’t demand any “unnecessary hike” in her remuneration.
