
Shelter Sites on Maa Narmada Parikrama Path to be Covered with a Sheet of Greenery
Plantation to be done on 1000 acres of land at 233 sites on Maa Narmada Parikrama Path in 16 districts
Around 7.50 lakh plants to be planted at a cost of over Rs 43 crore
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, the state government is running a campaign “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 2.0” initiated by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for water, nature, and environment conservation and promotion. The state government will carry out plantation on the land of shelter sites located on Maa Narmada Parikrama Path across 16 districts of the state. MGNREGA council has also begun preparations in this regard. The Panchayat and Rural Development Department has already issued instructions regarding plantation.
Plantation to be done on around 1000 acres of land at 233 locations
On approximately 1000 acres of land at around 233 sites of shelter places located on Maa Narmada Parikrama Path, around 7.50 lakh plants will be planted at a cost of over Rs 43 crore. The plantation work will start from 15 July and will continue till 15 August. A proper campaign will run for plantation in these areas.
Plantation will be done at Maa Narmada shelter sites in 16 districts
The 16 districts where plantation will be done at Maa Narmada shelter sites include Anuppur, Dindori, Mandla, Jabalpur, Narsinghpur, Seoni, Barwani, Alirajpur, Dhar, Narmadapuram, Raisen, Sehore, Harda, Dewas, Khandwa, and Khargone.
Monitoring will be done using drone, satellite images
Whether the plantation work on the land of shelter sites on Maa Narmada Parikrama Path is being done properly or not and the plants have been planted or not – the entire plantation work will be monitored through drone and satellite images by the MGNREGA council. Plantation work at shelter sites will be done in two categories depending on the availability of land. In the state, there are 136 such places where more than 2 acres of land is available – 2.15 lakh plants will be planted there. Similarly, there are 97 such sites where land is more than 1 acre and less than 2 acres – 5.50 lakh plants will be planted at these locations.
Specialty of the plantation
The selection of plantation shelter sites will be done through the SIPRI software. Also, if the SIPRI software does not find the location suitable for plantation, then plantation will not be done at that site. The software will also check whether the place where plantation is being done has a permanent source of water.
- At sites where 2 acres or more land is available, plantation will be done using the normal method.
- At sites where land available is more than 1 acre and less than 2 acres, plantation will be done using the Miyawaki method.
- At the plantation sites, wire fencing will be done for the protection of plants.
- Digging of pits and wire fencing work will be completed by 14 July.
Before starting the plantation work on the land of Maa Narmada Parikrama Path shelter sites, tasks such as pit digging, wire fencing, site inspection of land proposed by SIPRI software, physical verification, and technical and administrative approval will be completed. Plantation work will start from July15.
