The sequel is particularly special for bringing together two of Indian cinema’s biggest action stars — Hrithik Roshan, reprising his role as super spy Kabir, and Jr NTR, making his Bollywood debut in what’s being touted as a fierce antagonist role. The combination of their star power, the franchise’s legacy, and a global narrative scale is expected to drive significant overseas interest. The $308K mark places War 2 well ahead of the early pace seen by War (2019) at a similar stage, and it now has a realistic chance of crossing $750K–$1M in premiere advances by showtime, if the momentum sustains. With more shows being added daily the film is now expected to dominate the South Asian box office in the U.S. next weekend. The film though will be facing tough competition from Lokesh Kanagaraj and Rajinikanth’s Coolie which is releasing on the same day as War 2.
