Mithila Palkar is entering a fresh phase in her career. Her next film, ‘Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos’, is set to release on January 16, 2026. This film is special for her because it is her first full comedy movie.Till now, people have seen her in many different roles, but this one takes her into a fun and silly space. The film is directed by stand-up comedian and actor Vir Das, who is also making his first film as a director with this project. Mithila is excited about the change and feels this film will show a new side of her.
Talking about ‘Bhooth Bangla’ and Priyadarshan
Along with ‘Happy Patel’, Mithila will also be seen in ‘Bhooth Bangla’. The film is directed by Priyadarshan and stars Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal. Talking to The Free Press Journal about this project, Mithila praised Priyadarshan for his work and efficiency. She said, “Priyadarshan sir’s films are a genre in themselves. We grew up watching them. We still quote them here and there. It’s incredible that I got to witness that play out in front of me.” She also spoke about watching the team work together and added, “The fact that these guys have worked together for as many years, it’s like a well-oiled machine, and it’s so much fun to watch them work together, Priyan sir, Akshay sir (Kumar), and Paresh sir (Rawal). It was really fun to just be a witness of their art.”
Strong cast and delayed release
‘Bhooth Bangla’ has a big and interesting cast. Apart from Mithila Palkar, the film also stars Tabu and Wamiqa Gabbi. The late actor Asrani also has an important role in the film. ‘Bhooth Bangla’ was earlier planned for an April release, but the makers have now pushed it to May 2026. Even with the delay, the excitement around the film remains strong because of the director and the actors involved.
Vir Das and Farah Khan’s funny chat
Recently, Farah Khan visited Vir Das’s Mumbai home for her vlog. During the chat, Vir compared ‘Happy Patel’ to ‘Om Shanti Om’ and ‘Happy New Year’. When Farah asked her cook Dilip if he knew about Vir’s film, he looked confused. Farah joked, “He doesn’t know anything. Vir’s film is titled ‘Happy Patel’.” Vir added, “Khatarnak Jasoos.” When Dilip said, “But you have made Happy New Year,” Farah laughed and said, “He just likes to take one word and then he says whatever he wants.”Vir then said, “It’s a crazy and silly film just like ‘Happy New Year’.” When Farah reacted, Vir quickly added, “My film is fully faltu!” Farah replied with a smile, “You mean to say mine was half faltu?” Later, Farah praised the trailer and said, “The trailer is my kind of funny. I love it.”Overall the hype is high for ‘Happy Patel’.
