NEW DELHI: Border Security Forces on Friday said it was fully prepared with a winter plan for the entire Jammu sector to stop any infiltration attempt by Pakistan-based terrorists, warning that India will not remain silent if they tried to exploit foggy conditions in the coming months. Shashank Anand, Inspector General of the BSF’s Jammu frontier, said intelligence reports indicate that terror groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) are regrouping after suffering heavy losses during Operation Sindoor in May.
“In winter, foggy conditions are our biggest challenge. Our jawans are on the highest alert. The winter strategy is ready, and we are strengthening vigilance on the borders to thwart any infiltration attempt by terrorists from across the border,” Anand told reporters. He added that repeated attempts by the enemy to push terrorists into Indian territory have so far failed. “The BSF stays in constant touch with its sister agencies, sharing intelligence from across the border. We are fully prepared to give a befitting response to the enemy,” he said. Anand further said there was no need for panic as Indian forces were closely monitoring all movements across the border. “During Operation Sindoor in May, the armed forces carried out missile strikes, destroying nine terror infrastructure sites, including major LeT and JeM camps. The BSF also eliminated several terror launch pads along the international border and Line of Control. We know they are changing hideouts and regrouping, and we are ready to act,” he added. While a ceasefire agreement with Pakistan remains in place, Anand warned, “If there are attempts to push foreign terrorists, we will not remain silent. The government has given us a free hand to respond from a shell to a bullet, and our jawans are aware of this.” The IG also highlighted the use of drones, unmanned aerial vehicles, missile systems, and Artificial Intelligence in modern warfare. “Counter-drone and air defence systems were effective during Operation Sindoor, but we cannot be overconfident. We recently held a ‘school of drone warfare’ at our academy in Gwalior to train our jawans and officers. If needed, we will use this training to counter enemy drones and inflict losses using our own drone technology,” Anand said.
