Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that education is the axis of holistic human development and “Education for All” is the development mantra of the state government. He emphasized that his government has made every possible effort to spread the light of education to every child in Madhya Pradesh. Not only academics, but meritorious students are also being connected to new technologies and modern education systems to lay the foundation for a bright future. By providing laptops to talented students, we are building a better and golden future for the state.
CM Dr. Yadav was addressing the state-level Laptop Incentive Transfer Ceremony held at the Kushabhau Thakre International Convention Centre in Bhopal on Friday. During the event, he transferred over Rs. 235 crore to 94,234 meritorious students of Class 12 who scored 75% or more in the 2024–25 academic sessions for laptop purchase. Each eligible student received Rs. 25,000 directly into their bank account through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) with a single click.
CM Dr. Yadav announced that from next year onwards, high-quality updated laptops worth Rs. 25,000 will be given instead of cash. He also distributed laptops to 15 outstanding students on stage and encouraged them by clicking selfies with them.
CM Dr. Yadav said that it is the state government’s duty to recognise talent and nurture future potential by extending every possible support. Among the students who received the incentive, 60% were girls and 40% boys. He highlighted that girls are progressing across all sectors despite challenges. this scheme has benefitted more than 4.32 lakh meritorious students, with the government spending over Rs. 1,080 crore on laptop distribution.
The Chief Minister said that laptops are not just devices but powerful tools to prepare students for a bright future. With digital resources, students will now be better equipped for modern education and competitive careers. Alongside free notebooks, uniforms, bicycles, and scooters, laptops will further support students’ digital learning.
Government Schools Surpass Private Schools
CM Dr. Yadav said that due to focused efforts on quality education, government school students recorded a 52% pass rate in board exams compared to 48% in private schools this year. Around 49 thousands government and 44 thousands private school students have benefited from the scheme in 2025. When the scheme started in 2009, students needed 85% marks to qualify, and only 500 students received the benefit. This year, 94,234 students received laptops. Recently, 15,600 students scoring above 85% were also provided scooters. He noted that awards and books received during school remain cherished for life.
Support in Higher Education Too
CM Dr. Yadav said that the government is also fully supporting meritorious students in higher education. The government covers full tuition fees for medical and engineering students. If a student qualifies NEET, their entire medical education becomes free, saving nearly Rs. 80 lakh per student. Efforts are underway to strengthen medical education in the state. The number of medical colleges is set to reach 36 by the end of this financial year, and 50 within the next two years. Dr. Yadav urged students to aim high while staying rooted in their home state and community.
‘Gems in Rags’ from Government Schools
CM Dr. Yadav highlighted that many bright students come from government schools despite limited resources. He, along with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and other ministers, also received early education in government schools.
PM Shri Modi’s DBT initiative Brought Transparency
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that under PM Modi’s leadership, India has progressed rapidly in digitalization. Former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee launched the PM Rural Road Scheme and the Golden Quadrilateral Project. PM Modi initiated DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer), which brought transparency to governance. Opening zero-balance Jan Dhan accounts was a revolutionary step ignored before 2013. He mentioned the upcoming Guru Purnima festival and noted that the state government has renamed the post of Vice-Chancellor as “Kulguru” to emphasize the guiding role of teachers.
Organ and Body Donors to Be Honored
CM Dr. Yadav said the government has recently decided to promote organ and body donation. Donors’ families will be honored at state-level events on January 26 and August 15. He announced that body and organ donors will be given a Guard of Honour at their final farewell, calling such donations acts of immortality.
Presiding over the program, School Education and Transport Minister Shri Uday Pratap Singh said that alongside infrastructure development, the government has promoted modern technology in education. Providing laptops early in the academic session and textbooks at the beginning of the year is a significant achievement, he said.
Speaking as special guest, Dr. Kunwar Vijay Shah, Minister of Tribal Affairs, Public Asset Management, and Bhopal Gas Relief, said the laptop distribution initiative would not only enhance technical skills but also help Madhya Pradesh become a leader in digital education. He informed that the government has approved Rs. 25 crore per division for building 100-seat hostels for tribal students preparing for national-level exams.
MP Shri Alok Sharma, MLAs Shri Rameshwar Sharma, Shri Vishnu Khatri, Shri Bhagwandas Sabnani, Shri Abhilash Pandey, Bhopal Mayor Smt. Malti Rai, Commissioner of Public Instruction Smt. Shilpa Gupta, Ravindra Yati, public representatives, senior officials, students, and their families have attended the event.
List of Students Awarded Laptops on Stage
CM Dr. Yadav handed out laptops to 15 top-performing students who scored impressively out of 500 marks include Priyal Dwivedi (492, Maihar), Harsh Pandey (490, Satna), Ankur Yadav (489, Rewa), Abhay Singh (489, Sidhi), Aryan Pandey (488, Rewa), Hina Devi (488, Shahdol), Nishu Pandit (487, Bhopal), Pranjal Kushwah (487, Bhopal), Hariom Sahu (486, Chhindwara), Raghuveer Gautam (484, Dindori), Gargi Agrawal (484, Damoh), Divyanshu Tiwari (484, Sidhi), Deepika Singh (483, Satna), Parth Rathore (483, Sehore) and Yogyata Tank (478, Bhind).
School Education Secretary Dr. Sanjay Goyal noted in his welcome address, that over 4,500 more students qualified this year compared to last, reflecting the improved quality of education in government schools.
The event began with a Deep-Prajjwalan by CM Dr. Yadav. The program was live-streamed across all districts, where ministers, MPs, MLAs, and Zila Panchayat Presidents participated in local ceremonies to celebrate with students.
Grateful Students Thank CM
Meritorious students expressed heartfelt gratitude. Nishu Pandit from Subhash Excellence School, who scored 97% in Class 12 and aspires to become a Chartered Accountant, said the laptop will help her greatly.
Pranjal Kushwah, who ranked 4th in commerce, also thanked the CM, saying the laptop will assist in attending online classes and preparing notes.
Eleven girl students from PM Shri Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Bhopal also received the laptop incentive and thanked CM Dr. Yadav warmly.
