About 58 million pounds of corn dogs and other sausage-on-a-stick products are being recalled across the United States due to the potential contamination. The recall was initiated after five consumers were injured and multiple customer complaints. Here’s everything you need to know about the recall.
What are the recalled products?
The recall affects “State Fair Corn Dogs on a Stick” and “Jimmy Dean Pancakes & Sausage on a Stick” products from Texas-based Hillshire Brands, which is a subsidiary of Tyson Foods, according to a notice published by the Agriculture Department’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS). The affected corn dog and sausage-on-a-stick products were packaged between March 17, 2025, and September 26, 2025.
Why are the products recalled?
The products are recalled as they may be contaminated with extraneous material, specifically pieces of wood embedded in the batter, according to the FSIS. The contamination was discovered after Hillshire received multiple consumer complaints, five of which involved injuries. Here is the list of affected products.
How to identify the recalled products?
The federal agency has urged consumers to check product names, use-by dates, and establishment numbers printed on the packaging. The affected recalled items bear the establishment numbers “EST-582” or “P-894” printed on the packaging. You can check the labels of the affected products here.
Where were the affected products distributed?
The recalled corn dogs and sausage-on-a-stick products were sold online and shipped to retail and food service locations nationwide. “They were also sold to school districts and Department of Defense facilities nationwide. While the products were distributed to schools, it resulted from commercial sales and not part of food provided by the USDA for the National School Lunch Program,” the agency said in a release.
What to do if you have the recalled product?
If you have purchased these recalled products, do not eat them. FSIS is concerned that some products may be in consumers’ refrigerators and freezers, along with school and institutional refrigerators and freezers. “Consumers, schools, and institutions who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase,” FSIS said.
