
NEW DELHI: The Delhi Premier League (DPL) has handed out fines to several players following the heated Eliminator clash between South Delhi Superstarz and West Delhi Lions on Friday at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The match, which saw West Delhi captain Nitish Rana smash an unbeaten 134 off 55 balls to secure a seven-wicket win, had also been marked by on-field confrontations and aggressive exchanges. Digvesh Rathi was fined 80 percent of his match fees for a Code of Conduct breach under Article 2.2 (Level 2) for behaviour deemed contrary to the spirit of the game. Rana was fined 50 percent of his match fees for a breach under Article 2.6 (Level 1) for using a gesture that was considered obscene, offensive or insulting. Aman Bharti received a 30 percent fine for a breach under Article 2.3 (Level 1) for the use of audible obscenity during the match. Sumit Mathur was fined 50 percent under Article 2.5 (Level 1) for using language or gestures that could provoke an aggressive reaction from another player. Krish Yadav was handed the heaviest penalty, with 100 percent of his match fees fined under Article 2.3 (Level 2), for audible obscenity and pointing his bat towards an opposing player following an abuse.Also Read: Watch: Tempers run high! The DPL has reiterated that it remains committed to maintaining the spirit of the game and expects all players to uphold standards of conduct. The West Delhi Lions will now face East Delhi Riders in Qualifier 2, with the winner advancing to meet Central Delhi Kings in the grand finale.
