A song from a small 2016 film has unexpectedly found a new audience nearly a decade later. ‘All I Am Saying Is Let’s Give Love a Chance’, the fusion song from Dhanak, is getting popular again after it featured in Nagesh Kukunoor’s series ‘Mrs Deshpande’. The song is a new version of ‘Dum-a-Dum Mast Qalandar’ and has slowly become popular on Instagram reels, helping a new generation hear its message of hope, care, and innocence.
Third time’s the charm
The renewed attention has surprised composer Tapas Relia, who did not expect the track to resurface so many years after its release. Speaking to Mid-day, Relia reflected on the unpredictable journey of music in the digital age. “It’s a strange yet surprisingly beautiful feeling, ‘Dhanak’ came out almost ten years ago, and suddenly this track has gone viral. I suppose good music finds its way to people eventually.”The song featured in ‘Mrs Deshpande’, starring Madhuri Dixit Nene, and brought it back into public attention. Soon after, social media users began using it in reels that reflect joy, nostalgia, and simple moments of everyday connection.
Delayed recognition and creative peace
Relia admitted that delayed appreciation can feel uncomfortable at first. “It’s taken a little too long for comfort,” he said with a laugh. “But I really have no complaints.” He added that what matters most is the way listeners are responding to the song now. “What’s reassuring is that people are responding to something that isn’t designed as a viral hook.”He said the song connects with people because of its simple nature. “Let’s Give Love is very basic musically, it’s the magic of the children, the script, the performances. I think it has finally reached people the way it was always meant to.”Nagesh Kukunoor’s Dhanak’ is about the bond between siblings and the kind of belief that keeps you going, and those ideas still land with people today. The song’s comeback just shows that the right music has a way of finding its audience again, even years later, and that genuine work stays longer than any trend.”
