NEW DELHI: Air quality in the national capital remained in the poor category on Monday, with the overall Air Quality Index (AQI) recorded at 262, according to data from the Central Pollution Control Board’s SAMEER app.A dense layer of fog engulfed parts of the city early in the day, leading to delays in several flights at the Indira Gandhi International Airport, officials said.Area‑wise data showed AQI levels continuing to hover in the poor range. Akshardham recorded an AQI of 294, while ITO registered 256, according to CPCB data.
Cold winter conditions, along with low wind speeds, continued to allow pollutants to remain trapped close to the surface, keeping air quality in the poor range — a concern especially for children, elderly residents and those with respiratory ailments.
