CBSE’s eligibility structure ensures only qualified candidates are allowed to sit for the test.Paper I (Classes 1–5)
- Senior Secondary or equivalent with at least 50% marks
- Completed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education
Paper II (Classes 6–8)
- A Bachelor’s degree
- Completed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education

CTET is conducted in a pen-and-paper mode using multiple-choice questions. Despite the absence of negative marking, the exam remains challenging due to its breadth, depth and emphasis on pedagogy.

- First-time applicants must:
- Register with their name, date of birth, email ID, and mobile number
- Verify the OTP sent to their contact details
- Generate a login ID and password
Fill the online application form
- Log in and enter: Personal details, Educational qualifications, Category and identity information
- Preferred paper (Paper I, Paper II, or both), Choice of exam city
