BPSC AEDO Written exam postponed: The Assistant Education Department Officer (AEDO) written examination has been postponed. According to the official notice, the exam has been postponed due to unavoidable circumstances. The exam was scheduled to be held in multiple phases between January 10 and January 16, 2026, excluding January 14. The commission said the new dates will be announced on its official website.The commission has not given a revised schedule yet. Candidates have been advised to track updates online. About the BPSC AEDO recruitment drive
The postponed exam is part of the BPSC AEDO 2025 recruitment drive. It is one of the largest recruitment exercises conducted by the commission in recent years. Through this process, BPSC aims to fill 935 Assistant Education Development Officer posts across Bihar.The recruitment drew massive interest from aspirants. In the first round of applications, around 9.7 lakh candidates applied for these posts. Due to the heavy response, BPSC later decided to reopen the online application window.

The application window was reopened from December 5 to December 12, 2025. This gave another opportunity to candidates who missed the earlier deadline. BPSC clarified that the reopening was a final chance. It also stated that the eligibility conditions and application rules remained the same.Candidates were required to apply online through the official BPSC website. The commission asked applicants to ensure accuracy while filling in personal, academic, and category details.
Vacancy details and reservation break-up
The AEDO recruitment includes a total of 935 vacancies. These posts are distributed across various categories. There are 374 posts for unreserved candidates. The Economically Weaker Section has 93 posts. Scheduled Caste candidates have 150 posts. Scheduled Tribe candidates have 10 posts. Economically Backward Classes have 168 posts. Backward Classes have 112 posts. Backward Classes women have 28 posts. The reservation has been applied as per state government rules.
Eligibility criteria and pay scale
To be eligible, candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree from a recognised university. The minimum age required is 21 years. For unreserved male candidates, the maximum age limit is 37 years. Relaxation in the upper age limit is applicable for reserved categories as per norms.The selected candidates will be appointed at Level-5 of the state pay matrix. The starting pay is ₹29,200. The amount is subject to revision based on government decisions.
