‘Border 2’ which carries forward the legacy of the 1997 ‘Border’ has got all the rave reviews. The audience seems happy with the sequel and most feel that it has done justice to its predecessor. The sequel retains Sunny Deol in the lead while starring Varun Dhawan, Ahan Shetty, Diljit Dosanjh alongside him. The film had great advance bookings and opened at a good Rs 30 crore on Friday, day 1. However, the real test will begin now during the weekend and the extended holiday for Independence day. According to Sacnilk, after a good opening of Rs 30 crore on Friday, on Saturday, one can expect some growth. The film has made Rs 7.1 crore till afternoon. The total collection is now Rs 37.1 crore. As per Box Office India, due to a spell of heavy rainfall across North India, coupled with delayed arrival of prints in several centres, appears to have held it back by a few lakhs. When one looks at the fifteen biggest openings from the past year or so, ‘Border 2’ does feature among the better starters, yet the larger picture remains underwhelming. Over the last 13 months, no film has truly delivered a massive opening day.Interestingly, when costs are weighed against day-one numbers, titles like ‘Saiyaara’, ‘Tere Ishq Mein’ and ‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’ arguably emerge as the strongest openers of the period.‘Border 2’ has come at the second spot in the top ten openers of 2025-2026. ‘Chhaava’ is at the number one spot. Even ‘Dhurandhar’ had made lesser than ‘Border’ on opening day but the film blew massively in the days after that.
