NEW DELHI: Bettiah, one of Bihar’s 243 Assembly constituencies, is located in the West Champaran district and is currently held by the BJP.
In the 2025 elections, Congress has fielded Washi Ahmad to take on incumbent MLA and BJP leader Renu Devi, while Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj has entered the fray with Anil Kumar Singh as its candidate, adding a fresh twist to the contest.

In the 2020 Assembly polls, BJP’s Renu Devi secured victory with 84,496 votes (52.83%), defeating Congress candidate Madan Mohan Tiwari, who garnered 66,417 votes (41.53%), by a margin of 18,079 votes.
Interestingly, in 2015, the tables had turned — Congress’s Tiwari won the seat with 66,786 votes (45.26%), edging past Renu Devi of the BJP, who received 64,466 votes (43.69%), by just 2,320 votes.
Bettiah has consistently witnessed close contests between the BJP and the Congress, with power alternating between the two parties in successive elections.
