Although Ayan didn’t express much, he shared his emotions with a few simple words: “Happy Birthday Baba !!! Love you. Miss you.” Along with the message, he posted a series of photos including one where Deb is seen holding him in his arms. Another image featured a childhood card made by Ayan, inscribed with ‘To Baba, love Ayan.’

Ayan’s father Deb Mukherjee breathed his last at the age of 83 in March this year. His passing left a profound impact on the film fraternity, with many prominent personalities mourning his loss. Among those who came to support his son, filmmaker Ayan Mukerji, was Ranbir Kapoor, who cut short his vacation in Alibaug. In a poignant gesture, Ranbir took on the solemn responsibility of carrying Deb Mukherjee’s coffin during the funeral. The last rites were conducted on March 14, attended by family and Bollywood luminaries including Hrithik Roshan, Anil Kapoor, Kajol, Rani Mukerji, Ranbir Kapoor, and Alia Bhatt.

Deb was a well-known actor in Bollywood, appearing in numerous films such as ‘Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar’, ‘Aansoo Ban Gaye Phool’, ‘Abhinetri’, ‘Do Aankhen’, ‘Baaton Baaton Mein’, ‘Kaminey’, and ‘Gudgudee’, among others.
