Australian cricket captain Mitchell Marsh has welcomed the upcoming white-ball series against India as perfect preparation for the Ashes series against England starting November 21. The tour comprises three ODIs beginning October 19 in Perth, followed by a five-match T20I series starting October 29 in Canberra. The ODI series will be played at Perth Stadium, Adelaide Oval, and Sydney Cricket Ground on October 19, 23, and 25 respectively. The T20I series will feature matches at Manuka Oval in Canberra, Melbourne Cricket Ground, Bellerive Oval in Hobart, Gold Coast Stadium, and The Gabba in Brisbane between October 29 and November 8.“We’ll have all the guys building towards the Ashes but everyone loves playing against India. We’ve got a great rivalry and great respect for them as a team. I think it’s literally perfect timing to be playing against India in the lead-up to an Ashes series. It’s going to be massive,” Marsh told Fox Sports.Australia aims to use these series to bounce back from their disappointing T20 World Cup performance in the Caribbean and United States. The rivalry between Australia and India has intensified, as evidenced by the massive crowds during last year’s Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The upcoming T20I match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on October 31 has already sold out its public ticket allocation more than two weeks before the event.India’s previous bilateral ODI series in Australia in 2020/21 resulted in a 2-1 loss for the visitors, though they managed to win the T20I series by the same margin during that tour.Shubman Gill will lead India in the ODI series, with experienced players Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli included in the squad.Suryakumar Yadav will take over as captain for the T20I portion of the tour.
