LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, while addressing convocation ceremonies at Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith (MGKVP), Jannayak Chandrashekhar Vishwavidyalaya and Sampurnanand Sanskrit University in Varanasi on Wednesday, cautioned young women against entering live-in relationships. Speaking to students, the Governor said, “If you want to see the outcome of live-in relationships, go look at orphanages, where 15-20 year-old girls are standing in line with one-year-old kids. Live-in relationships have become a trend these days. But, stay away from it.” “I have seen women being chopped up into 50 pieces,” she added further. She urged girls to devote themselves to their education and better aims, warning that neither maternal families nor in-laws may care for them later. The Governor also voiced concern over increasing drug abuse among youth and highlighted the need for students to develop a sense of duty and national responsibility alongside academic degrees. “Education is for a change in life, not just for a degree,” she said, stressing the importance of timely examinations and 75% attendance in classes. On environmental issues, Anandiben Patel urged students to adopt organic farming, improve cleanliness, and conduct research to minimize losses from natural disasters. During the ceremonies, degrees were awarded to 71,243 students, including 25,363 males, 45,877 females, and three transgender students. A total of 103 gold medals were presented to 101 students.
