At the trailer launch of the Hindi version of Dacoit, Adivi Sesh surprised many by showering praise on Aditya Dhar’s blockbuster Dhurandhar. The appreciation comes at an interesting time, as Dhurandhar Part Two is slated to clash with Dacoit—which stars Sesh alongside Mrunal Thakur and Anurag Kashyap—on March 19.
‘It helped me see the other side of the attacks’
Addressing the media, Sesh drew parallels between Dhurandhar and his own film Major, in which he portrayed Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, who was martyred during the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks. Reflecting on his preparation for Major, Sesh said the film gave him a new perspective on the tragic events of 26/11.“I even tweeted about Dhurandhar. Aditya sir is a good friend of mine. I had researched so much on the 26/11 attacks and the Black Tornado operation. But to know the Pakistani side of things was a new experience for me. I thought Dhurandhar is an extraordinary film. It thoroughly deserves to be India’s biggest film of the moment. I’m so proud that so many people are watching the film. It’s a proper word-of-mouth hit,” he said.
‘There’s no booking involved’
Much like actors Yami Gautam Dhar and Shraddha Kapoor, Sesh also praised the makers for steering clear of aggressive promotional tactics. Applauding the film’s organic success, he said, “People are turning up in genuine numbers. There’s no booking involved. I’m so proud of Aditya’s film and everything that he has achieved. He has an extraordinary value system. I’m planning on watching it for the second time tomorrow with my family.”
Dhurandhar storms the box office
Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar has emerged as a massive box-office success, crossing Rs 450 crore in domestic collections. Headlined by Ranveer Singh, the film features an ensemble cast including Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, R. Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt and Sara Arjun. The makers have officially announced Dhurandhar Part Two, which is scheduled for release on March 19, 2026—setting the stage for a high-profile box-office clash with Dacoit.
