
A case has been filed against actor Jayakrishnan who is popular for several Malayalam films and serials, for allegedly making communal remarks against a taxi driver in Mangaluru, Karnataka.As reported by Manorama Online, the complaint was lodged by the driver, Ahmed Shafiq, at the Urwa Police Station. According to the complaint, Jayakrishnan and his friends booked an Uber taxi from Bejai New Road for a trip, during which the incident occurred. When the driver called to confirm the pickup location, Jayakrishnan allegedly made derogatory and communal comments in Hindi, which escalated into verbal abuse.
Actor arrested; friends also accused
Reportedly, the Urwa Police promptly registered a case under Sections 352 and 353(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and took Jayakrishnan into custody. His friends Santosh Abraham and Vimal have also been named as co-accused, though Vimal remains absconding. Reports say that the police officials confirmed that the preliminary inquiry verified the allegations, leading to the formal arrest. According to the complaint, the accused allegedly called the driver a “terrorist” and used derogatory language about his family when confronted.
Ongoing investigation
Meanwhile, a video showing Jayakrishnan and the complainant at the police station has also gone viral online. Police have seized mobile phones and other digital devices belonging to the accused for forensic analysis. Reportedly, the devices will be returned only after a detailed examination.
