Last month, Aayush Sharma shocked his fans by sharing on Instagram that he had gone through two back surgeries one after the other and is now recovering. Recently, the actor explained how he had been ignoring his body’s warning signs for a long time. He thought the constant discomfort was just muscle soreness from all his training. But during a shoot, the pain became too much, and when he finally saw a doctor, he found out there were problems with his L4 and L5 vertebrae that were causing serious trouble.Finding a silver lining in recoveryIn a chat with Hindustan Times, he said, although the surgery was tough, Aayush found a positive side to the experience. It gave him a chance to spend quality time at home with his wife and kids, turning the recovery period into a special bonding time. His son even cooked for him, making avocado toasts, while Aayush and his wife Arpita caught up on many films. He called it “quite a different summer” for him.A change in how he sees fitnessAfter going through these intense physical problems, Aayush’s view on fitness has changed a lot. He stressed that having a six-pack doesn’t mean someone is truly fit. In his words, “I am a firm believer that six-pack body is not a fit body. But there’s been this trend of everybody trying to emulate it, which I don’t think is fitness. It is aesthetic and there is a difference between fitness and aesthetic.” He added that on the days he was most focused on getting that sculpted look, “I actually feel the weakest in my life,” showing he now understands that true strength is more than just looking good.Balancing workouts with recovery and overall healthEarlier, Aayush was heavily focused on training, but now he makes sure to give equal importance to recovery and rest. He has cut down his workouts to five days a week and set aside two days just for recovery. His routine is mainly about strength training and stretching, with rest playing a key role. This new balance has made a clear difference for him. He’s also started enjoying fitness outside the gym by jogging outdoors. His whole approach has shifted towards looking after his inner health, focusing on the strength of his heart, lungs and overall body, rather than just chasing sharp abs. Now, he believes in listening to what his body tells him and taking a break when it feels tired.
