Getting a diet plan is easy, but sticking to the same is like climbing a mountain. It has often been noticed that no matter how hard you try to stick to the set diet plan, the timings, the portions, and selections, there comes a point sooner or later when you simply give up. Celebrity fitness coach Siddhartha Singh, who has worked with stars like Tamannaah Bhatia, reveals the real reason behind the same. He mentions unrealistic; it ultimately fails because it lacks sustainability.
The only time you cannot stick to a diet is when it is not sustainable
In an Instagram video shared on Wednesday, Siddharth shared an anecdote about a client who couldn’t adhere to a diet consistently. The coach got to know that the client’s diet plan was only made of various juices – orange juice in the morning, lauki (bottle gourd) juice in the afternoon, and karela (bitter gourd) juice in the evening. Perplexed, the coach said, “’That’s it. That was your diet?’” He added, “No wonder you could not stick to it. That’s not even food. That’s literally liquid.”Siddhartha further revealed it was an overly restrictive and non-sustainable diet, which led to consistent failure. “The only time you cannot stick to a diet is when it is not sustainable, when it is a crash diet. Something like, ‘Let’s leave carbs’ or ‘Let’s not have sugar for the rest of our lives’…If it sounds like something that is not doable while saying it to 10 people, it is probably something you will not be able to do,” he shared. He added that only when you can feel this with conviction that “Hey, I can do this for the rest of my life,” – it is the right path for you. “But if it’s something like lauki juice, karela juice, and orange juice, and then nothing else, it is probably going to make you miserable, not make you stick to it.”
It’s not you, but the unrealistic diet plan
When one fails to adhere to a diet, they fall into a vicious circle of self-guilt, which yet again is not a healthy habit. So he advised not to question yourself, as there’s nothing wrong with you. “You’re going to be like, ‘Okay, I can’t stick to diets. There’s something wrong with me. Maybe it’s my metabolism.’ No, nothing is wrong with you. So, find a nutrition plan that’s structured, sustainable, and you’ll get amazing results in due time,” he said.
