
NEW DELHI: Three persons were arrested on Sunday for their alleged involvement in the ‘gang rape’ of student of a private medical college in West Bengal’s Paschim Bardhaman district, police said.The identities of the accused have not yet been revealed.“We have arrested three persons in connection with the case. They are being questioned. This is a very sensitive case and we will give out further details later,” the police officer said.A medical student from Jaleswar, Odisha, was allegedly raped by unidentified men in Durgapur, police said on Saturday. The incident occurred outside a private medical college campus on Friday night when the second-year student had gone out for dinner with a friend.The student is receiving treatment at the hospital and has recorded her statement with the police. The case has sparked political tension between the ruling Trinamool Congress and opposition parties.
